Cape Cod

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

East Sandwich, Massachusetts was the first town to be established on Cape Cod and was founded as far back as 1637. Many travelers flock to the area to see the lighthouses of Cape Cod. Due to the dangerously hidden shoals located just off-shore, Cape Cod’s coastline has been called the “ocean graveyard” because of all the shipwrecks. These lighthouses were used to warn ships of upcoming danger and, because most are still fully intact on the coast, they are often a traveler’s favorite stop. The town of Sandwich was known for their old glass factory and, although it shut down many years ago, their glass museum now brings in travelers from all over. Besides its rich history, Massachusetts offers many things to keep travelers busy.  There is the Cape Cod Rail Trail where bikers, horseback riders and hikers adventure, as well as quirky stops such as taking a Cape Cod Chips Factory tour or their French Cable Station Museum. With such diversity to offer, East Sandwich and neighboring Cape Cod are great spots for our travelers.  For suggestions on what to do, where to eat, what to pack and more, visit our page for, “Cape Cod, Massachusetts”
