Things to Do in Stowe, Vermont

  • Ski, Snowboard or Hike the Mountains –
Many travelers go to our Sundance Vacations property in Vermont to ski or snowboard on Mount Mansfield or Stowe Mountain in the winter months or to hike them in the summer. Take the gondola to the top of Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont, and eat at the restaurant on top for stellar views and tasty treats. Experience incredible vertical drops on Stowe Mountain or try an easier trail if you’re just beginning. Both mountains have trails for all skill levels.
  • Bike or Stroll –
The Stowe Recreation Path is over 12 miles long round-trip and offers a wonderful view of nature. Nestled between the West Branch River and Route 108, you’ll see corn fields and the shallow, rocky, West Branch of the Little River. There are bike rentals available at several locations nearby making this is a great stop for the family to picnic and spend a relaxing day outside in the summer time. Looking for something a little more challenging? Head on over to Smugglers’ Notch State Park for mountain biking trails, hiking or rock climbing. This is a gorgeous area to visit in the fall when the leaves are changing. You could also check out Sterling Falls Gorge, where you’ll witness running waterfalls on this well-marked trail.
  • Tasting/ Tours –
Do you love experiencing food and drink? The Stowe Beer Tour is a five-hour, all-inclusive beer tour where you’ll visit three of the top breweries in Vermont and indulge in samples paired with locally-grown veggies, meat and cheeses.  If you love cheeses, the Vermont Creamery is only about 40 minutes from Stowe.  Not a fan of beer, but love a good Cider? Check out Stowe Cider for both hard and alcohol-free cider.
  • Lake Champlain –
About 45 minutes from Stowe in Burlington, Vermont you can hop aboard for a sailing cruise with the Whistling Man Schooner Company. Sign up for either a half-day or full-day cruise as a romantic getaway or fun sail with the kids on their “Friend Ship.” There are also ferries that will take you from Burlington to areas in New York. You might even see Champ, their lake monster, said to be much like the Loch Ness Monster of the Scottish Highlands.
  • Dog Sledding –
Coming to Vermont in the winter to ski, snowshoe or snowboard? We bet you didn’t think you’d be able to dog sled too! Experience the mountains while being pulled by a team of Siberian huskies. Husky Works two or three passenger sled rides are available by reservation only. Peace Pups Dog Sledding is located near Lake Elmore and teaches you how to mush! They also have dog visiting hours in the summer if you’d still like to drop by to feed the pooches some treats and say hi.
